The operating deficit in Norway is halved. Rimi increased sales by 14.2 percent in the first quarter to 2.3 billion NOK. Of comparable units, growth was a healthy 5.3 percent, according to the quarterly report ICA AB announced Wednesday morning. The operating deficit in Norway has been halved from 234 million Swedish kronor in the first quarter of 2011 to 120 million SEK this year.

Mills increased its turnover by 6.2 percent last year to 1.73 billion NOK. The growth is organic and comes from new products and relaunches, according to a press release from the parent company, Agra.

Statoil Fuel & Retail presented the results for the first quarter on Wednesday morning. Despite a slightly lower gross profit the company beat expectations. The company had a gross profit of 2.35 billion NOK in the first quarter, down from 2.43 billion NOK in the same period last year.
