Eurocash invests heavily

With the new store investments, the annual turnover will increase by 50 percent from the current 1 billion SEK to approximately 1.5 billion SEK. The chain currently has five big supermarkets at Svinesund, Töcksfors, Eda (Charlottenberg), Strömstad and Åmål. Eurocash is owned by the Norwegian investment company Conceptor AS which owns several commercial properties in the border area. - Our strategy is to expand through acquisitions and organic growth, says Fredrik Jakobsson, the managing director of Eurocash. – The stores in Strömstad and Åmål are former ICA stores bought and rebranded to Eurocash, says Jakobsson. The company now aims to strengthen its position in relation to the cross-border trade from Norway to Sweden.. In March its will open a new store in Töcksfors Handelspark, a commerce park. In addition to six Eurocash supermarkets and four Godis (candy stores, a new concept that will be open this summer: - Currently we keep our cards close to the chest, but I can tell you that this will be something completely new in cross-border context, says Jakobsson. Another major investment will be an expansion of the supermarket in Strömstad, which will experience strong growth thanks to the new Systembolaget (the state monopoly for the sale of alcoholic beverage in Sweden) being built next door. The Systembolaget will be Sweden's largest. 
 - It is a completely new situation for us. We are rebuilding to meet the increased influx of customers. It is actually a brand new shop.
