Imported butter on the cheap

The news of the Norwegian butter crisis went around the world before Christmas.The crisis is still not over. At least not for those who do not want to eat imported butter.- Tine´s priority is Bremykt, a spread mix of butter and rapeseed oil, and deliveries begins to normalize. It is still the case that we run out before the next shipment arrives, but the situation is better than it has been, says Kristin Paus, press manager of Coop. - The situation has improved, and will normalize at the end of January. We believe it was a good move to import butter. Our increasing own production and imported butter will cover the total demand, says Øystein Knoph, communications director of Tine. Even in Finland, the butter crisis is not over. The butter shortage there is in its fourth month, because a large part of its butter production is exported to Russia, because it is far more lucrative. Norwegians want Norwegian butter, and now the chains are forced to cut prices on foreign substitutes.
